Dear Birth Parents

Dear Birth Parents,

We want to begin by expressing our appreciation for you. Birth families have played a vital role in our lives, and we want you to know that because you are a birth family we care about you, we admire you, and we’re thinking about you!

We are aware of the choices one has when discovering unforeseen circumstances in regards to their baby. We want to share with you our admiration for the courage you demonstrate in considering an adoption plan. This leap of faith is evidence of your tremendous love, courage, and selflessness. Thank you!

In this blog we want to share with you our personalities, life-style, experiences, and why we have a desire to adopt another baby girl with Down syndrome. We hope you can sense our deep love for all children, especially those with special circumstances and needs.

We want to express our love to you again. We want you to know that if you place your baby for adoption with us, we will always consider you a part of our family. We want you to know that future relationships with us and your child are completely up to you. We will be as open as you feel comfortable with. Our number one desire is that you find peace in whatever decision you make. We know you are making an adoption plan out of love for your baby. We are confident that you will be guided to do what is best for you, your family, and your baby.

About R

R is a genuine person, and loved by everybody. He is a peacemaker and always ensures that everybody feels important, loved, and safe. He has a tender heart. He serves others on a daily basis and is simply charitable.
R is also playful, and is known as the tickle monster. He loves to play with the kids and to hear them giggle. The kids always run away screaming and quickly run back begging for more! Children always love for him to chase them and to play with them. He is very fun loving. R is a wonderful father. He enjoys reading and playing with his children. He helps J so much by helping however he can with the children, and around the house. R loves to travel. He enjoys visiting loved ones. R loves to be in nature. He also enjoys playing sports for some extra exercise. Most of all he loves to make memories with those he loves, and finds true joy in serving others!
R believes in God and is grateful for his faith. He served a mission for our church. He served the wonderful people of the Czech Republic for two years. R is an Electrical Engineer for a local company. He graduated from college with the highest of honors. He is dedicated to his career. However, he never lets his career come before his family. He tries hard to make it home for family dinner, and often takes days off of work to go to school activities and fieldtrips of the children. He is a hard worker, and has been given many awards from his company for his wisdom, hard work, leadership, and dedication. R is humble. He never talks about all of the good qualities he has. Instead, he always credits his accomplishments to somebody else.

About J

J loves to be with people. She thrives for the company of others. She would much rather chat with somebody than to have a relaxing night at home in front of the T.V. or with a good book. People are her passion.
J also believes in God and served as a missionary for the church. She lived in Spain for almost two years serving the wonderful people there. She cherishes her experiences in Spain and the dear people she worked with and served.
J is also very organized and loves scheduling events. J organizes quarterly activities for our neighborhood. She organizes a neighborhood Easter-egg hunt, weekly summer fieldtrips, helps the kids make our garage into a neighborhood haunted house, and heads up a sub-for-Santa each year.
She simply loves to do fun things with people and with her children. J also loves the outdoors and spending time with her family at their family cabin. J believes that the best memories are those little simple moments of being together and enjoying one another.
J has a BS degree in family and human development with an emphasis in early childhood education. Her degree has assisted her one thousand times over as a stay at home mother. She counts being able to stay at home with her children as one of the greatest blessings in her life. Being able to stay at home with them ensures that the children are supported and encouraged in all of their activities. She loves and enjoys helping weekly in her children’s classrooms, and being there for them.

About A

A is from the Marshall Islands. He was born in 2000. He is such a fun person. When he first came to our family, the first word that we used to describe him was, “animated.” He would and still does get so excited for things and is such a happy person.
A enjoys playing sports such as soccer, basket-ball and foot-ball. He also loves to play Frisbee with his dad and grandpa. He is a good sport.
A loves playing on the computer, the WII and on his DS and IPOD touch. Currently, Roblox is his favorite game. He is a natural and can figure out any game. He often shows his little brother how to make certain moves while playing.
A has many hobbies. He loves to put things together and figure out things. He is great at using Legos and play mobile. He also has a great imagination. A loves to read and has read many books. Rick Riordin is currently his favorite author.
A has many talents and is developing his talents. He is learning to play the guitar and is doing very well at it. He played in his first talent show in December 2010. He also likes to sing with his brother, B. During fall 2010 A and his brother were introduced to songs by Michael Jackson. They know and can sing many of his songs. One of A’s greatest talents is playing with, and loving little children. He is so good to his baby sister, E and to our neighbor, Jaren.
If you ever need a friend, A is always there.

About B

B is from the Marshall Islands and is named after a family friend…Norman B. We met Norman B while living in Hawaii. B shares many of the same talent and interest that dear Norman has. B was born in 2003. (He was our first child, and then we adopted A when B was three months old, and A was 3 ½ years old)
B inherited many wonderful qualities and talents from his birth family. His birth mom is one of the happiest people in the world. B is truly a happy hearted person. In second grade, B’s teacher put it best when at parent teacher conference she said, “B just loves to bond with people.” This is so true. He cherishes his relationships that he has with his family and friends.
B loves music. It is a very part of him and we thank his birth Grandma “Bubu” for that. He loves to sing, dance, whistle, and play the piano and anything that makes music. In December 2010 B auditioned for a solo part of the song, “Billy Jean” by Michael Jackson. He was awarded the solo and did an outstanding job at the performance.
B also spends most of his free time upside down. He has taught himself all of his gymnastics tricks. He can do round-offs, back hand springs, one-handed cartwheels and more.
When people think of B, they picture his darling dimple, big smile and bright eyes. They also think of his friendly personality and the many talents that he has.

About C

C was born domestically and is full African-American. She was born in 2006. She is our sweet and sassy girl. She is our social girl. She has an imagination that will make her popular when she writes her novels down one day. She is the happiest with gum in her mouth, make-up on her face, a purse in her arms full of all of her precious stuff. She is a pack-rat at heart!
C is tender-hearted. She cares and loves people and is very sensitive. She mothers E the most out of the children, and truly wants to be married and be a mom some day. She talks about what her husband will be like all of the time.
C loves music and dancing too! In January 2012 she joined a singing and dancing class. She is so excited to sing and perform on stage. We are excited to watch her. C loves swimming as all of our children do. She loves jumping off of the diving board and diving for rings on the bottom of the pool.
C is all girl. She loves painting her fingernails and toenails and choosing her own clothes. She is happiest in jeans and a t-shirt with fun colors in her hair.
If you ever want to be entertained C is the person to hang-out with. Her personality is so fun and she will always keep you laughing. (just believe about 5% of her stories)

About D

D was born domestically as well, and is full African-American. She was born in 2006. She and C are just three months apart. D is as independent as they come. Every-day J asks herself, “why isn’t she my oldest?” Life would be so easy. J would have a built in babysitter, a maid, chef, fix-it person, mechanic and more. She loves to cook, clean, and do “big kid” and “grown-up” things. This characteristic means that life is never dull and that we have to keep a close eye on her.
D loves dressing up in any costume and especially princess costumes. She also loves wearing leotards and tights with ballet shoes. D is a natural gymnast and has muscles too. In September 2010 she began gymnastics classes and has already moved onto “the big gym.” Her dream is to be a “char-leader” (cheer-leader) someday.
D loves doing puzzles, art-work of any kind and writing her letters.
D loves “her little lady.” This is her grandpa. Grandpa (J’s dad) helps out a lot and is always around. Grandpa calls D his “little lady.” Now D refers to grandpa as “my little lady.” This is so cute as grandpa is everything but feminine…usually found in his mechanic clothes.
D is sweet and sensitive too. She is the peacemaker of the family. She will usually give up whatever she wants to make others happy. She is a great sister.

About E

E was born in New York City and is Caucasian. She was born in 2010. E is as sweet as they come. She is such a content little person and enjoys watching the chaos (energy in motion) around her.
E is a special little angel. She lights up the room wherever she is. People are drawn to her. She is so great at making eye contact and looking into people’s faces. She gives new meaning to the song, “This little light of mine.” This has become E’s theme song and we all sing it to her!
E loves music. She loves when people sing. She tries to dance or clap to the beat. E’s first favorite song was, “Happy Birthday.” Currently she loves, “This little light of mine,” “You are my sunshine.” “ABC’S” And “Pat-a cake” E also loves to look at books. She laughs so hard at books that have the animal sounds.
E wowed us all when she used her fingers and signed “milk” to us for the first time at the age of nine months. As of January she uses sign language all day to let us know of her needs. She signs…mom, dad, Nana, Grandpa, milk, yogurt, more, bath, hi, by, please, thank you, all-done, sleep, and more. It is so wonderful to see her communicating through sign language. Her verbal skills are developing more and more and she is making lots of new sounds.
E is building strength. As of January 2012 she can climb up the stairs, crawls very quickly, and pulls her-self up to everything and anything.
E is loved and cared for by so many. Her brothers and sisters take extra care and love her so much. She is an amazing little girl full of life and personality!
